HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

I am back! For good (I hope) Actually, I hit Singapore a couple of days back but I was simply too lazy to do anything concrete. Been either lazing at home or running crazy in town, catching up with old friends. Yes, Singapore is VERY VERY HOT and I am burning literally BUT I am glad to be home again. Food is always a big thing in Singapore and just these few days, I have eaten quite a bit. Slurppp! Yum Yum!

2004 is going to be another year jam-packed with fun and excitement. Last year, I was so looking forward to my exchange in States and 2003 has became a dream come true for me. Even now, the fun I had in States esp in UCSB is still fully engraved in my memories. All the parties that I had, all the culture shocks I was thrown into and the whole bunch of awesome frens that I have made. It is really overwhelming and I thank God for it!

So did I do anything special on 1st Jan to celebrate this new year and of course my birthday? Yes of cos. There is always something special every year. This year I chose to do nothing. Kinda special and absolutely different. Did not put much fuss into welcoming the new year. It has to come anyway, right? But with the right spirit and true optimism, I am sure 2004 will yet be another life-changing year for me.

One of the "concrete" things I have done this 2004 is to upload my long overdue pics taken while touring United States with my parents and angel sis! Happi Viewing!!!

6 hrs more and I will be leaving Santa Barbara for good. Not that I want to but it is the inevitable. Been waiting for this day to come. Mixed feelings - happi coz I will get to tour around States with my family. Sad coz I am going to leave my frens for at least a year. I may not even get to meet them again... *holding back tears* Had a big farewell party earlier at my place and it was definitely a success. Got to see all my friends for one last time. Eugenia, Fumi, Cheryl, Theresa, Alice, Keiko, Sonya, Naomi, Margaret, Maiken, Anders, Alberto, Rick, Ming, Isaac, Mike, Daniel, Nick, Alex, Joji, Midori, Sefa, Daisuke and Steve. The rest of them have left a few days ago.. But thanks for coming and of course for the prezzies and cards too!!! Really touched. Alice and Nick, thanks for the SB magnet! Fumi for the card and song! Sonya for the beautiful Korean shoes and card. Theresa for the cheese cake! Cheryl for all the food you made! Anders for the hootie sweater! Pema & gang for the CD and photo album! Ah..so many more. Just want to say a BIG THANK YOU! You guys have made my exchange in UCSB a memorable and beautiful one. I never regret coming here and it has carve an important phase in my life. I AM GONNA MISS ALL OF YOU - FRIENDS FOREVER!!!

Sitting in my living room, I cannot help but look back at all the fun times I had here in UCSB. This world is getting smaller and smaller. We are all so connected to the WWW and it does not matter where you are born, be it an American, an European, an Asian, an African etc... We are all one people with different backgrounds and different languages. And there is no reason why we cannot hang out together and be friends. One good example was this: We were all chilling out in my living room and hearing songs from my playlist. Some of the Japanese songs I had were so well liked by not just Japanese but also people from Hong Kong, Tibet and even America. Then we played songs by Eric Clapton, U2, Suede and Goo Goo Dolls and my friends were like "Ah..I know this one. NICE!!" Man, we aren't so different afterall. The world is just one big country and all of us live in different parts of this big country. How nice!

Well, this is it. It's time to go. My bags are packed but my heart not readied. As what Fumi wrote in the letter... "I don't want to say goodbye to you, Eric.... coz' I believe that we will cross paths again..." So no goodbyes, just see you later!

Thursday is here! 2.41am. Boy, I am so excited coz I am going to take my last final for this quarter. Downside of it is clear - I haven't started studying for it. Luckily it is P/NP. Will do some reading tomorrow morning IF I can wake up. Got back my results for CS 176A too. They r super efficient in marking our scripts. However, no letter grades yet. So it is still a big question mark whether I will pass that subject. *Pray hard*

Listening to some new Canto songs recommended by Cheryl. Just said goodbye to Pema from Canada. She is leaving tomorrow afternoon. Everyone is leaving...that's so sad.....

It was yet another teary farewell with Tiphaine just now. She is leaving Santa Barbara tomorrow afternoon and I went to bid farewell to her just after dinner. As usual, we had a great time sharing pictures, reminiscing about our fun adventures in Yosemite, eating riceballs that I brought over etc. Fun time doesn't last as always and it was time for me to go back home to hit the books. Darn the finals! We hugged for a long time..not bearing to leave each other. So sad.... Tiphaine, have a safe trip and keep in contact! Miss ya and FRIENDS FOREVER! 1. I think I screw up my CS176A!!! Hopefully I wun have to redo Computer Network again in Singapore................. *Pray*

2. Tonight is my last night with Fabio... FABIO!!!! DUN LEAVE ME!!!!!!!!! *grabbing legs and hands* Haha...ok, I exaggerate. My 4 month roommate will be going back home to Italy and I will have to spend 3 lonely nights in the room - oh, tat's doesn't sound so bad, hehe. Can smuggle some gals into my bedroom. Woo Hoo...OK, back to Fabio. Technically speaking, he is my 1st roommate minus Army Daze. It had been a fun time living under the same roof with him. No major or even minor conflicts. Enjoyed crapping with him and teaching him English while he taught me some Italian. Always carrying his surfboard around - I call him the Surfer Dude! And he is cooking Italian pasta tonight for me and Sefa. Yum Yum.. I can't wait.

If you are reading this, it has been my greatest pleasure fooling around with you. Haha... Still remember the BIG surprise we had with Alice...in the bathroom, remember?? Haha.. And of coz thanks for being tolerant with me esp during the mornings when my alarm clock will ring and wake everyone up EXCEPT me and poor fabio has to shut off my clock and wake me up. Oops. Oh yeah, I apologise for my pillows too coz many mornings, my pillows will end up on his face. Guess I move too much and my pillows will slid down from my bed to his face. Hey, wait a minute - aint I suppose to grieve over his departure. Boo Hoo...
2 finals down, 3 more to go...

I am so happi today coz I recieved two pieces of good news. One was my film paper. I slogged practically two whole days, cooped in my room with large piles of books all around me just to do a critic on two films. But in the end, it was well worth the effort I guess coz I got an A!!! And my TA, Chris who can be really strict in grading gave me very positive remarks for my paper. Definitely a moral booster for the coming exams. =)

Anders and Tefanie organised a BBQ at El Dorado and guess what - it turned out to be a surprise farewell party for me and Kerrie. Yeah!!! I was really really touched. We had lots of food but my fave was the Apple Pie made by Keiko and Mariko - really sweet and yummy! Even got to try my hand in preparing a French desserrt as Tefanie called it. Banana stuffed with marshmallows and chocolates. We r supposed to wrap it in aluminiun foil and BBQ it. After around 10 mins, the marshmallows and chocolates melt into the banana split. Sinful but tasty - gonna try it again when I get back to Singapore - haha. My friends also got me a photo album with pictures taken together during the whole UCSB stint. Days at Goleta Beach to Pema's house and even our Mexico Trip where I was so drunk one night. Stefan also burnt a CD with even more pics and videos we took during the parties and trips. To me, these pics are priceless memories which I will treasure forever! As days passes, I am also reminded by the fact that I am truly leaving this country. Many of my friends like Pema, Stefan, Nico, Eugenia and Tefanie will be leaving by 10 Dec which mean that I will only see them for another 2 or 3 days. Boo Hoo..... Needless to say, we exchanged addresses both in UC and in home countries. As of current, I am now entitled to travel to over 10 countries in the world - France, Germany, Korea, Japan, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Norway, Barbedos, Brazil, Chile, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Denmark and many many more. Hey guys, I need you all to fund me at least my air ticket so I can visit you guys at your country!!! =p

Fun times are always so short! Darn!!! Most of my friends have already completed their exams BUT I have not even started ONE!!! I have 2 on Mon, 2 on Tues and the last one on Thurs from 4 to 7pm. Gooodness... Helppppp!!! So far, I have only revised one paper. Good luck, Eric! ^_^ '"
